Homemade Spicy Hummus Recipe

This hummus recipe is so simple and it tastes so much better than store bought hummus. It’s fresh and so yummy with pita bread or carrot sticks or to add to a sandwich. There are endless ways to eat it. Give it a try and let me know how you like it!

Prep time: 5 minutes

You will need

  • 1 can chickpeas
  • Fresh lemon juice from 1 large lemon
  • 1 1/2 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tsp hot chilli powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp harissa paste
  • Splash soy milk
  • 1 tbsp chilli oil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp cold water
  • Pinch of salt

Method:

  1. Half drain the chickpeas, so that you have some liquid left over.
  2. Place all of your ingredients into a blender and blend for a few minutes until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Top with some cayenne pepper. You’re done. It is that easy.

Additional:

Store the hummus in an air tight container and refrigerate for up to one week.

If you want the hummus to be less dense just add some more water until you reach the desired consistency!

Enjoy,
